Week 2 of the 2013 Vespucci Instiute will be held at the wonderful Fattoria di Maiano
Fattoria di Maiano, origins back to the 15th century, is situated in a panoramic scenery on the green hills between Fiesole (just 2,5 km) and Firenze (just 5 km)
A completely organic agricultural estate, Fattoria di Maiano covers an area of nearly 300 hectares mainly used for growing olives (20.000 olive trees on 110 hectares). In the very heart of Fattoria di Maiano is situated the 15th century Chiostro (cloister) and the impressive fresco Madonna della Misericordia by Spinello Aretino. Next to the cloister you will find: Sala del Convitto, the former convent refectory and Sala Olivaia, an ancient olive storage room. Walking through the olive grove, you will easily reach Villa di Maiano, the main house of Fattoria di Maiano that look on to the entire estate. Villa di Maiano has been the set for numerous films including: Tea with Mussolini by Franco Zeffirelli and A Room with a View by James Ivory. It has all the private residence features :magnificent rooms (Tapestries Room, Red Lounge, Old Dining Room, Carriage Room and Billiard Room) with original decor and furnishings, a large terrace overlooking Florence and the Italian garden.

Accomodation and Transport We recommend to stay in Fiesole. There is a bunch of hotels and a beautiful camping place with mobile homes to rent (and to share!). Please have a look on the hotel list or on the hotel map. A transport from the main square of Fiesole to the Fattoria (passing some hotels) will be organized.
